Helicase-associated domain

IPR007502

Definition

This is the helicase associated domain (HA2) found as a diverse set of RNA helicases. It has an all α-helical fold that can be divided in two subdomains, an N-terminal degenerated winged helix (WH) and a C-terminal ratchet-like domain [[cite:PMID:26545078], [cite:PMID:31409651], [cite:PMID:33243853], [cite:PMID:32179686]]. This domain collaborates with the RecA domains at the N-terminal in the formation of a RNA binding channel to allow the helicases to keep a stable grip on the RNA.
