OverviewNCBI Gene
This gene encodes one of three related filamin genes, specifically gamma filamin. These filamin proteins crosslink actin filaments into orthogonal networks in cortical cytoplasm and participate in the anchoring of membrane proteins for the actin cytoskeleton. Three functional domains exist in filamin: an N-terminal filamentous actin-binding domain, a C-terminal self-association domain, and a membrane glycoprotein-binding domain. Mutations in this gene are a cause of cardiopathy. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2022]

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis
Seroatlas reads FLNC as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against FLNC could matter depends on whether native FLNC is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.
FLNC is annotated as predominantly intracellular. Intracellular proteins are common autoantibody markers, becoming visible to the immune system after cell injury or altered processing, but are usually markers of disease rather than direct drivers.
Annotation status
The present source text does not explicitly label FLNC as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
