OverviewNCBI Gene

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the p55 Stardust family of membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) proteins, which function in the establishment of epithelial cell polarity. This family member forms a complex with the polarity protein DLG1 (discs, large homolog 1) and facilitates epithelial cell polarity and tight junction formation. Polymorphisms in this gene are associated with variations in site-specific bone mineral density (BMD). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis

Seroatlas reads MPP7 as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against MPP7 could matter depends on whether native MPP7 is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.

MPP7 is annotated at the cell surface, where native MPP7 is exposed to circulating antibodies and is a prime autoantibody target that could block, deplete, or overstimulate it.

Annotation status

The present source text does not explicitly label MPP7 as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
