OverviewNCBI Gene

This gene belongs to the bromodomain gene family. Members of this gene family encode proteins that are integral components of chromatin remodeling complexes. The encoded protein showed strong preference for the activating H3K14Ac mark in a histone peptide screen, suggesting a potential role in transcriptional activation. This gene may be associated with susceptibility to sudden cardiac death (SCD). [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2016]

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis

Seroatlas reads BAZ2B as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against BAZ2B could matter depends on whether native BAZ2B is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.

BAZ2B is annotated as predominantly intracellular. Intracellular proteins are common autoantibody markers, becoming visible to the immune system after cell injury or altered processing, but are usually markers of disease rather than direct drivers.

Annotation status

The present source text does not explicitly label BAZ2B as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
