Sodium/calcium exchanger protein

PF01699

Definition

This is a family of sodium/calcium exchanger integral membrane proteins. This family covers the integral membrane regions of the proteins. Sodium/calcium exchangers regulate intracellular Ca2+ concentrations in many cells; cardiac myocytes, epithelial cells, neurons retinal rod photoreceptors and smooth muscle cells PMID:1700476. Ca2+ is moved into or out of the cytosol depending on Na+ concentration PMID:1700476. In humans and rats there are 3 isoforms; NCX1 NCX2 and NCX3 PMID:8798769 see [swissprot:Q01728], [swissprot:P48768] and [swissprot:P70549] respectively.

9 human proteins with this domain

Each is a reviewed human protein in the Seroatlas serome and a potential autoantibody target; this domain groups them into one antibody-relevant category. Every entry links to its own record.
