OverviewNCBI Gene
This gene encodes a member of the C-lectin family, proteins that possess collagen-like sequences and carbohydrate recognition domains. This protein is a scavenger receptor that displays several functions associated with host defense. It can bind to carbohydrate antigens on microorganisms, facilitating their recognition and removal. It also mediates the recognition, internalization, and degradation of oxidatively modified low density lipoprotein by vascular endothelial cells. [provided by RefSeq, May 2018]

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis
Seroatlas reads COLEC12 as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against COLEC12 could matter depends on whether native COLEC12 is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.
COLEC12 is annotated at the cell surface, where native COLEC12 is exposed to circulating antibodies and is a prime autoantibody target that could block, deplete, or overstimulate it.
Annotation status
The present source text does not explicitly label COLEC12 as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
