OverviewNCBI Gene

The protein encoded by this gene is expressed in B lymphocytes and contains pleckstrin homology and src homology 2 (SH2) domains. In Burkitt's lymphoma cell lines, it is tyrosine-phosphorylated in response to B cell receptor stimulation. Because it binds Shc independent of stimulation and Grb2 after stimulation, it appears to play a role in signal transduction from the receptor to the Shc/Grb2 pathway. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2009]

Whether an antibody against SH2B2 can act on the native protein depends on physical access: surface and secreted proteins are reachable by circulating antibodies, intracellular proteins usually are not.

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis

Seroatlas reads SH2B2 as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against SH2B2 could matter depends on whether native SH2B2 is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.

SH2B2 is annotated at the cell surface, where native SH2B2 is exposed to circulating antibodies and is a prime autoantibody target that could block, deplete, or overstimulate it.

Annotation status

The present source text does not explicitly label SH2B2 as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
