OverviewNCBI Gene
This gene encodes a member of the myosin superfamily. The protein represents a conventional non-muscle myosin; it should not be confused with the unconventional myosin-14 (MYO14). Myosins are actin-dependent motor proteins with diverse functions including regulation of cytokinesis, cell motility, and cell polarity. Mutations in this gene result in one form of autosomal dominant hearing impairment. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis
Seroatlas reads MYH14 as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against MYH14 could matter depends on whether native MYH14 is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.
MYH14 is annotated as predominantly intracellular. Intracellular proteins are common autoantibody markers, becoming visible to the immune system after cell injury or altered processing, but are usually markers of disease rather than direct drivers.
Annotation status
The present source text does not explicitly label MYH14 as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
