GAR domain superfamily

IPR036534

Definition

The GAR (Gas2-related) domain is common in plakin family members and Gas2 family members. It has been shown to bind to microtubules [[cite:PMID:20335501], [cite:PMID:11112700], [cite:PMID:11854008]] probably through the flexible, positively charged central β-sheet formed by by five antiparallel β-strands PMID:28541346. This domain has an α-β(5)-α fold with two layers (α/β) consisting of meander antiparallel sheet.
