OverviewNCBI Gene
The protein encoded by this gene contains a RING (C3HC4) zinc finger motif and several C3H zinc finger motifs. This gene is intronless and imprinted, with expression only from the paternal allele. Disruption of the imprinting at this locus may contribute to Prader-Willi syndrome. An antisense RNA of unknown function has been found overlapping this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis
Seroatlas reads MKRN3 as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against MKRN3 could matter depends on whether native MKRN3 is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.
MKRN3 is annotated as predominantly intracellular. Intracellular proteins are common autoantibody markers, becoming visible to the immune system after cell injury or altered processing, but are usually markers of disease rather than direct drivers.
Annotation status
The present source text does not explicitly label MKRN3 as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
