OverviewNCBI Gene

Polyspecific organic cation transporters in the liver, kidney, intestine, and other organs are critical for elimination of many endogenous small organic cations as well as a wide array of drugs and environmental toxins. This gene is one of three similar cation transporter genes located in a cluster on chromosome 6. The encoded protein contains twelve putative transmembrane domains and is a plasma integral membrane protein. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis

Seroatlas reads SLC22A3 as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against SLC22A3 could matter depends on whether native SLC22A3 is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.

SLC22A3 is annotated at the cell surface, where native SLC22A3 is exposed to circulating antibodies and is a prime autoantibody target that could block, deplete, or overstimulate it.

Annotation status

The present source text does not explicitly label SLC22A3 as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.

Seroatlas is the reference for exploring autoantibody and antibody serology at the human-protein level: the autoreactome and human serome, multiplex serology (HuProt, HuScan, VirScan, PhIP-Seq).
