OverviewNCBI Gene
The protein encoded by this gene is a vesicle-bound, sodium-dependent phosphate transporter that is specifically expressed in the neuron-rich regions of the brain. It is preferentially associated with the membranes of synaptic vesicles and functions in glutamate transport. The protein shares 82% identity with the differentiation-associated Na-dependent inorganic phosphate cotransporter and they appear to form a distinct class within the Na+/Pi cotransporter family. Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis
Seroatlas reads SLC17A7 as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against SLC17A7 could matter depends on whether native SLC17A7 is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.
SLC17A7 is annotated at the cell surface, where native SLC17A7 is exposed to circulating antibodies and is a prime autoantibody target that could block, deplete, or overstimulate it.
Annotation status
The present source text does not explicitly label SLC17A7 as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
