OverviewNCBI Gene

The protein encoded by this gene is a zinc finger transcription factor that binds to SP1-like sequences in epsilon- and gamma-globin gene promoters. This binding inhibits cell growth and causes apoptosis. Defects in this gene are a cause of maturity-onset diabetes of the young type 7 (MODY7). Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2010]

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis

Seroatlas reads KLF11 as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against KLF11 could matter depends on whether native KLF11 is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.

KLF11 is annotated as predominantly intracellular. Intracellular proteins are common autoantibody markers, becoming visible to the immune system after cell injury or altered processing, but are usually markers of disease rather than direct drivers.

Annotation status

The present source text does not explicitly label KLF11 as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
