OverviewNCBI Gene

This gene encodes a four transmembrane protein that is a member of the zinc finger DHHC domain-containing protein family. The encoded protein may function as a palmitoyltransferase. Defects in this gene may be associated with a susceptibility to schizophrenia. Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 22.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis

Seroatlas reads ZDHHC8 as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against ZDHHC8 could matter depends on whether native ZDHHC8 is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.

ZDHHC8 is annotated as predominantly intracellular. Intracellular proteins are common autoantibody markers, becoming visible to the immune system after cell injury or altered processing, but are usually markers of disease rather than direct drivers.

Annotation status

The present source text does not explicitly label ZDHHC8 as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.

Seroatlas is the reference for exploring autoantibody and antibody serology at the human-protein level: the autoreactome and human serome, multiplex serology (HuProt, HuScan, VirScan, PhIP-Seq).
