OverviewNCBI Gene
Olfactory receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, to initiate a neuronal response that triggers the perception of a smell. The olfactory receptor proteins are members of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) arising from single coding-exon genes. Olfactory receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and are responsible for the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome. This olfactory receptor gene is a segregating pseudogene, where some individuals have an allele that encodes a functional olfactory receptor, while other individuals have an allele encoding a protein that is predicted to be non-functional. Does the body need this protein intact? Low LOEUF or a strong DepMap dependency means loss or blockade of the protein is likely to be felt.

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis
Seroatlas reads OR5L1 as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against OR5L1 could matter depends on whether native OR5L1 is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.
OR5L1 is annotated at the cell surface, where native OR5L1 is exposed to circulating antibodies and is a prime autoantibody target that could block, deplete, or overstimulate it.
Annotation status
The present source text does not explicitly label OR5L1 as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
