OverviewNCBI Gene
Olfactory receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, to initiate a neuronal response that triggers the perception of a smell. The olfactory receptor proteins are members of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) arising from single coding-exon genes. Olfactory receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and are responsible for the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Whether an antibody against OR10K1 can act on the native protein depends on physical access: surface and secreted proteins are reachable by circulating antibodies, intracellular proteins usually are not.

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis
Seroatlas reads OR10K1 as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against OR10K1 could matter depends on whether native OR10K1 is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.
OR10K1 is annotated at the cell surface, where native OR10K1 is exposed to circulating antibodies and is a prime autoantibody target that could block, deplete, or overstimulate it.
Annotation status
The present source text does not explicitly label OR10K1 as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
