OverviewNCBI Gene
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the band 4.1 protein superfamily. Members of this superfamily are thought to play an important role in regulating interactions between the cytoskeleton and plasma membrane, and contain an amino terminal conserved domain that binds glycophorin C. This gene product is thought to be involved in the beta-catenin signaling pathway. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2016]

Antibody and autoantibody relevanceSeroatlas analysis
Seroatlas reads EPB41L4A as an antibody target. Whether an autoantibody or antibody against EPB41L4A could matter depends on whether native EPB41L4A is physically reachable, whether the body needs it intact, and whether it acts in a disease-relevant tissue.
EPB41L4A is annotated as predominantly intracellular. Intracellular proteins are common autoantibody markers, becoming visible to the immune system after cell injury or altered processing, but are usually markers of disease rather than direct drivers.
Annotation status
The present source text does not explicitly label EPB41L4A as an autoantigen. Seroatlas presents hypothesis context only and does not manufacture a known-serology claim.
